Margaret A. Hanson

I make art because it is the only truthful way to tell a lie, I can show my viewer the way I believe something to be happening. They can agree or disagree.
I engage my viewer by making them look for the small details in my work. I hope to spur discussions pertaining to the environment, gender issues, consumerism, and I also hope to make people laugh, smile or maybe even question their own values.
I became a printmaker because it caters to my needs. It is a medium that makes art affordable (everyone should own original art) and shareable. It is versatile, combinable and reproducible again and again in different formats, sizes and even colours. Painting might be seen as more valuable, but, in my opinion, printmaking is no less. Every (art) form has value.
